I didn't bother to log in straight away today, as I'm on a lunch break and only browsed to see what was new.

While I was browsing as a guest, I noticed that links don't work if you are not signed in. For example, I know that I put up two links to Facebook recently - one to my account and one to the page that has been set up in connection with this website. Both links, to guests, are invisible.

I know that this is probably to stop bots from finding things like our email addresses and bombarding us all with spam, but I thought I should announce my discovery; partly to let the members here know that there are a lot of safeguards in place that even I know nothing about and partly to warn guest browsers that the forum is much more accessible if they sign up.

I hadn't noticed any of that, either. I always sign in automatically. It's interesting to see the ways that the forum protects it's members without us knowing.
