I put this section up in case our members had any questions regarding anything from OCS, NCS or otherwise Gerry Anderson related; but it just so happens that I have one.

I know that the Spectrum colour-coded rank of "colonel" is in actual fact the equivalent of a *general, but what are captains and lieutenants?

*a 5 star general, in the case of the American ranks; in Britain, a general is a general.

I think the Spectrum rank of *Captain is actually equivalent to Colonel and *Lieutenant to Captain.

The Angels are an interesting one as their ranks are unknown. They could be all different ranks based on their abilites or they could have the same rank, maybe they're level with the *Lieutenants.

That would explain why the Captains order the Angels around, wouldn't it?

They all order the Angels about do they, Captain Scarlet? I only remember one being particularly bossy...

Lets change the subject before anyone gets killed, indestructible or not.

I think the Angels ranks might 'float' if you get what I mean. They can be bossed around but equally they can boss others around.

I think the same could be said for Doctor Fawn. He doesn't have a proper rank - being a Doctor - but depending on the situation he could boss or be bossed around.

I know what you mean - if Colonel White was injured/ill, he'd have to take orders from Doctor Fawn, whether he likes it or not. I don't know about Fawn taking orders though, Mads; if the Colonel wanted someone on duty when s/he was unfit - even if that patient insisted that they were fine - Doctor Fawn would be able to refuse to allow that patient to return to active duty if he had to (not that I think Colonel White would be so callous, of course).

I could see Colonel White putting up a fight if he was sick. He's a commandering officer, he'd want to be seen as tough as old boots and ignoring Doctor Fawn until he was too sick.

But you guys are correct, Fawn is another one who floats. It's one of the those ranks that does not follow the standard system.

Yeah, I bet he would put up a fight, too. He's British, after all.

Yes, he probably would - it wouldn't wash though. Smile Fawn can outrank anyone on the base, including the colonel... which is probably just as well! Wink

The advantage of a floating rank I guess. But what if Fawn is the one who ends up sick? Surely there's someone on board who can pull rank on him. A senior nurse prehaps.

There certainly should be, but the series doesn't mention anyone (as far as I remember). I'm not sure about the comic strips.

That isn't fair, is it? He can keep me in Sickbay until I die of boredom, if he wants to, but there's nobody to do the same to him! I think the seniour staff should appael!

They say physicians are the worst patients, since they know what is wrong with them, how they want to be treated, when someone isn't telling them the whole story etc. Maybe one of the robo-docs takes care of Fawn if he gets too crotchety? Doctor

That's more than likely! I certainly wouldn't want to be the one who had to look after him.
