Character heights and such
I thought that this might be an interesting thing to discuss.
Sylvia Anderson came up with the character biographies and she never actually said how tall the main characters were or how much they weighed. She also didn't comment much on things like hobbies.
With this in mind, can we really accept what was added to Sylvia Anderson's work by other people later on as canon? Especially seeing as some of this later information doesn't always add up, depending on who wrote it, when and why.
What are your thoughts?

If Sylvia Anderson didn't say about certain things, it means that we can decide things like that for ourselves, surely?
Which version was by Sylvia Anderson? The ones with the DVD box set? Or were those written by somebody else?

I'm sorry; I wasn't very clear, was I? Sylvia Anderson wrote the original character information, which was quoted by Chris Bentley in his book, "The Complete Book of Captain Scarlet". The Supermarionation DVD box set also included the same information, yes.

I've just had another look at the cards that came with the DVDs. You're right! It doesn't say anywhere about heights and weights. Does that mean that I can be taller than Captain Blue? Great!

Sorry Scarlet, in my mind, Blue will always be an inch or two taller than you

If you're writing your own fan fiction, you can say pretty much whatever you like - as long as you try to follow the information that you already have been given by the creators.
All I was saying was that what some people would consider to be legitimate was actually made up by writers of comics and annuals - NOT Gerry and Sylvia Anderson. Some of the things that they came up with were somewhat contrived and others actually clashed with what Gerry and Sylvia Anderson had come up with originally.
This didn't just happen in regard to Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons, either. Did you know that Thunderbirds has two very different timelines? The dates given on-screen are approximately 40 years earlier than those given in other places. Why? Probably so that crossover comic strips could be made in places such as TV21.

That's terrible! Why do people do things like that? Oh well, at least it means that I don't have to try to find anything out that didn't come with my DVDs, I suppose. I hate sifting through lots of information that doesn't always make sense, trying to work it out as I go.
Thanks for that snippet, Captain Burgundy.

Yes, that's really bad, changing the information that the creators came up with!
